Tullah is a town in the northern part of the West Coast Range, on the west coast of Tasmania, about 97 km south of Burnie. Tullah Tavern is situated on 1 acres of land in the heart of “old Tullah”. The tavern hosts the longest straight bar in Tasmania at 23.5 metres long. There are currently two self-contained units attached to the rear of the premises with plans at council for another 13 units. Three units have been purchased ready for assembly once the plans have been approved. The tavern hosts a café for lunch and dinner meals.
The building itself is two storeys. The ground floor houses the tavern, café and bar. There is seating for 50 guests. Tullah is surrounded by Mount Black to the north, Mount Farrell to the east and Mount Murchison to the south and is on the door step of the Tarkine National Park. It is a small picturesque town surrounded by natural beauty. Located on the edge of Lake Rosebery where boating and fishing are popular local pastimes. There are numerous bush walking tracks through the mountains and parks. Tullah is also home to the Wee Georgie Wood which is the oldest steam train in Tasmania.
Tullah is a peaceful former mining town, surrounded by a beautiful landscape of lakes, rivers and mountain ranges. Just 15 minutes’ drive from Tullah is Montezuma Falls, Tasmania's highest waterfall. Tullah is situated within the Tarkine Forest Reserve which is a huge area of temperate rainforest, sand dunes and coastal heathland. Though not designated as a national park, the area contains a wildly diverse landscape. Just 30 minutes north of Tullah sits Cradle Mountain which is ranked 7 in the top 10 of Australia’s most visited places. Cradle Mountain is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and one of the most accessible and interesting places in Tasmania.
