The Stirling Arms is the longest continually running licensed premises in Western Australia. Built in 1852 by John Welbourne with the aid of convict labour the premises have under gone significant renovations in the 1960’s and also recently.
The Stirling Arms is located in the historical township of Guildford, the gateway to the Swan Valley and only 20 minutes from Perth’s CBD and airports.
The Stirling Arms is primarily focussed on Food and Beverage operations with a successful events business that caters for both large and small functions. It also has a well-stocked bottle shop operation that is currently branded as a Thirsty Camel outlet.
It enjoys a loyal local customer base together with a number of day trippers and out of town patrons that are out visiting the historic town and surrounding Swan Valley.
The Hotel enjoys frontage to the busy James Street that is the main route from Perth to Midland with the train line directly across that road from the hotel .
The current lease runs until 1 July 2025 after which a further 5 year option for renewal may be exercised by the tenant . a copy of the lease is attached.
The Premises trades 7 days a week all year except Good Friday and Christmas Day. The ability to trade on these two days are available to an operator who wishes to serve alcohol ancillary to a meal.
Current operating hours are as follows:
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 11am – 10pm
Wednesday and Thursday 11am – 11pm
Friday and Saturday 11am – Midnight
The Hotel License allows for operation 6am – Midnight Monday to Saturday and 10am to 10pm on Sundays.
Current Owner involvement is as follows:
2 Hours a week account management and payroll
3 hours a week – Function enquiries and pricing, rostering and staff training
2 Hour a week – Ordering stock and supplier rep meetings
Total owner involvement – 7 hours a week
Owner remuneration is by way of Drawing, however the majority of Profit over the past years have been reinvested into the business.
All staff are casual except one full-time Manager.
Beside the Full-time manager there are another 2 qualified Duty Managers on staff to cover daily shifts and to cover the full time manger on his days off etc.
The Stirling Arms enjoys the benefit of a full Hotel License together with a tobacco license, food license and gaming license.
